Christmas 2019

For Christmas 2019 I wanted to gift a Gingerbread house to my family friends. Not just any gingerbread house though! This entirely edible gift was a scale model of their home in Stockbridge MA. The planning was of the utmost importance in this project. I had to be sure to bake each gingerbread piece to just the right size and shape, so I created a model based on photos and measurements. The gingerbread was baked from the pattern that I created. Each piece was decorated before assembly, then came windows, doors and finally and the landscaping. Everything was complete with an oyster cracker roof and peppermint walkway. Plus dozens of other details. My favorite was the pair of deer made from graham crackers, royal icing and pretzels.

Materials used in this project: grape stems, chocolate, graham crackers, coconut, oyster crackers, melted sugar, cocoa puffs, mini oreos, chocolate covered pretzels, peppermint wheels, cotton candy, candy canes, royal icing, lights, tootsie rolls, rice krispy treats and real - made from scratch gingerbread.
